<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was my first background EVER! Wanted to create a rustic look...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZUVgh2uB2FF7mf-6C4vCviIHTkxCHlivmgZsu7HVPfCZGxVKnCFvZrblnt_6KhQYqe6IKKCbqjWFQ4ahvizirzX9Fk-abab-5_wJLKx_Wb90tNA6mWmhurvV-e8lK9JTVHKTkZKD3A-g/s1600/20140923_104817.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZUVgh2uB2FF7mf-6C4vCviIHTkxCHlivmgZsu7HVPfCZGxVKnCFvZrblnt_6KhQYqe6IKKCbqjWFQ4ahvizirzX9Fk-abab-5_wJLKx_Wb90tNA6mWmhurvV-e8lK9JTVHKTkZKD3A-g/s1600/20140923_104817.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But something happened here which made me hated the look...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr90-nJZbcuwRTzcu0g7a819cY4_GxeDKRmGodPOyn3AtGmNFIY0-Byu0l8vyS2abq3-V5EjkeXKYoGq3jV3psTpd1t_3lMjTqk9O-P4bT3L004jBFc6weSP2ljuPcxHkzHT10LeRj5sg/s1600/20141010_111925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr90-nJZbcuwRTzcu0g7a819cY4_GxeDKRmGodPOyn3AtGmNFIY0-Byu0l8vyS2abq3-V5EjkeXKYoGq3jV3psTpd1t_3lMjTqk9O-P4bT3L004jBFc6weSP2ljuPcxHkzHT10LeRj5sg/s1600/20141010_111925.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I painted it over! Better blending this time.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"Sponged" on some gold paint on and sprinkled some glitter, it looked like the "Space Invader" thing....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I printed out a picture of the lotus flower, traced out the outline and put in more lines...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGSlpxy7VnMEB3Co1KMIBewsRQ59iEQj8YNqOnFIVkWsULdLO9BKK7ngbjDPzC8QmuJ6BCcvXGeK-erbZHcjC41v2czFg_akP1-a43ouxPiYvwhEq4pMIo_PbdkXzkm0TbuQ2I59F8fFg/s1600/20141022_154742.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGSlpxy7VnMEB3Co1KMIBewsRQ59iEQj8YNqOnFIVkWsULdLO9BKK7ngbjDPzC8QmuJ6BCcvXGeK-erbZHcjC41v2czFg_akP1-a43ouxPiYvwhEq4pMIo_PbdkXzkm0TbuQ2I59F8fFg/s1600/20141022_154742.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Doodled in more details and it's done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Painting is great because there is no right or wrong, it all depends on how you like it to look like. And since it's my first painting, I choose to stencil and draw with a black marker pen as well. You decides what you're most comfortable with to make up the painting. You can even glue in stuff, etc and go mix media! It is also a stress reliever when you're focus on getting the right shades, moving the brush the way you want it to, time just flies by.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope I can paint more, but first I need to get some good brushes, the ones I have are going bald.... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

So at the mean time, I was just sitting around with limited materials on hand and dying of boredom!!<br />
<br />
So the other day, I made these!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTGh8a7ZnFv6rfLtr5h-qpOjq5jNuRFB8pbcThauYfWY41xoZHX9QBDoISi_Il3Ka3XxGRJ1ih7zB-P-nF3PCOpr_RHc0JvazkORsiL9BFfHtITMKBzn4WNxh27wwYCZVWjl2FvTsurl4/s1600/image_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTGh8a7ZnFv6rfLtr5h-qpOjq5jNuRFB8pbcThauYfWY41xoZHX9QBDoISi_Il3Ka3XxGRJ1ih7zB-P-nF3PCOpr_RHc0JvazkORsiL9BFfHtITMKBzn4WNxh27wwYCZVWjl2FvTsurl4/s1600/image_2.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A ninja with nunchaku for my super-hero-wannabe Prince I.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguD2lqkdbvCcIqlyXC5H-CikkKdZHR6kNcT-u5F2Uy3LNhLCvdE3pa-a4EsrbkF_WaBRUlcKXZ2p68nsR1jBm3bp3LrPF6vdFMmXezLVYBCB19mg3_Jx3n6kiavxMYC-NVSSK-is-Ys8g/s1600/20140327_114132.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguD2lqkdbvCcIqlyXC5H-CikkKdZHR6kNcT-u5F2Uy3LNhLCvdE3pa-a4EsrbkF_WaBRUlcKXZ2p68nsR1jBm3bp3LrPF6vdFMmXezLVYBCB19mg3_Jx3n6kiavxMYC-NVSSK-is-Ys8g/s1600/20140327_114132.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And a Nyan cat for Prince C who likes anything colorful and cute.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And after these were done.... now the wait continues......</div>
<br />Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-27674070472752323952014-02-10T12:14:00.002+01:002014-02-10T12:14:36.985+01:00Work in progress....I'm in the process of preparing the teachers' appreciation gifts for this year....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjItd_lEWOfLFfhY1sflPlxtK1kO3dszzrVAQ3Fotg-t5r70g7r-GP5zEnPNNN99G5W1mIi7PZqFRauORwTPXAtBIr3psEajo7It2b6p2buj2qqJyuEk5fYM3zu4bPzqWo2htcStUCjAsA/s1600/20140207_135902.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjItd_lEWOfLFfhY1sflPlxtK1kO3dszzrVAQ3Fotg-t5r70g7r-GP5zEnPNNN99G5W1mIi7PZqFRauORwTPXAtBIr3psEajo7It2b6p2buj2qqJyuEk5fYM3zu4bPzqWo2htcStUCjAsA/s1600/20140207_135902.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Testing counts and patterns....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkEjKHf1QhM6wlR4ZAsIIPBpZIJngyHbCJcL6Ztx3FTL9nEA0kmtULrqqvwjsfyoa1bdXALzHyiA1njp1gr2HB_EyhUHQ_-u77n9xB-L2yfQ4_H91E3qvGRieyC4I7eKucNdEbP1lD0nA/s1600/20140209_144749.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkEjKHf1QhM6wlR4ZAsIIPBpZIJngyHbCJcL6Ztx3FTL9nEA0kmtULrqqvwjsfyoa1bdXALzHyiA1njp1gr2HB_EyhUHQ_-u77n9xB-L2yfQ4_H91E3qvGRieyC4I7eKucNdEbP1lD0nA/s1600/20140209_144749.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Result is not ideal, so I made it into a fridge magnet instead!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the testing continues.....</div>

And it has been 2 years since I last went home. When the craving hits, it's like an itch deep in the throat, a place where I can't reach! So I crawled the net looking for recipes which can satisfy my craving a little and I found what I was looking for from one of my favorite food blogger, <a href="http://nasilemaklover.blogspot.se/" target="_blank">Nasi Lemak Lover</a>!<br />
<br />
And so I marinated the chicken last night, fried them before lunch...<br />
<br />

<br />
Every year we will make small gifts to be given to the teachers to express thanks for their patience and guidance for the past year. <br />
<br />
This year, we bought coffee mugs from Ikea and some markers for porcelain and made these!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3_zOQ6wCsXd7bysxXpPi0nIRYLcJNvZEy0fqh-lAN1oRXh_Tj3qsbIhYRCn46uNku3sJQEVMD4E549SwoN9rDcyd6R_1IKPg0K05azeuJTl9VGc29H8Ox429CdNcqzH8kHf1TXUp6N9s/s1600/20130612_171707.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3_zOQ6wCsXd7bysxXpPi0nIRYLcJNvZEy0fqh-lAN1oRXh_Tj3qsbIhYRCn46uNku3sJQEVMD4E549SwoN9rDcyd6R_1IKPg0K05azeuJTl9VGc29H8Ox429CdNcqzH8kHf1TXUp6N9s/s1600/20130612_171707.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Peacock feathers for the ladies and bamboo for the men! I came up with these simple designs which even the kids can duplicate, after all they are the ones who should be making all these for their own teachers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The thumb print cookies is a recipe taught by one of the teachers during Home Economics class, so it's a nice touch to show the teachers that they remember what they have learnt! :)</div>

I usually marinate the pork for about 2 hours because I'm quite sensitive to the "porky" smell but if you're not as particular as me, you can just mix the ingredients together and get cooking straight away! First heat up the oil and put in the pork. I usually fry the pork till they are a little brown (not burnt ok!) and then....</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.... then it's done! Easy right? ^.^</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Ingredients:</b></div>
<br />
450g of very thinly sliced pork of any cut<br />
Half of a large onion or 1 small one<br />
3 tbsp of Korean chili paste<br />
2 tbsp of Korean chili flakes (which I omit because we have 2 small kids who are not yet trained to eat spicy food)<br />
1 tbsp of soy sauce<br />
1 tbsp of sugar<br />
2 cloves of finely minced garlic<br />
1 tsp of fresh finely minced ginger or half a tsp of ginger powder<br />
1 tbsp of sesame oil<br />
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (which I also omit because the kids in our family get "freaked" out by white seedy stuff on anything they eat...)<br />
1 tbsp corn syrup, optional<br />
1 tbsp canola oil for stir frying<br />
<br />
Method:<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>In a small mixing bowl combine chili paste, chili flakes, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and corn syrup, mix well.</li>
<li>In a large mixing bowl combine pork with the sauce, and mix well to coat all the pork slices with the sauce evenly.</li>
<li>Drizzle 1 tbsp oil to the skillet and bring it over medium high heat. Place pork over the skillet and add the sliced onion on top. When they sizzle, start tossing everything to cook evenly all the way or until the pork is fully cooked and onions are soft, about 3 - 5 minutes.</li>
<li>Serve hot with a bowl of rice.</li>
</ol>

We had a lot of good food and desserts. We gossiped and shared experiences about our lives in Sweden. And when I saw one of the tofu dish, I just had to ask for recipe!<br />
<br />
This recipe comes from Lorina, a Taiwanese friend who is very good in cooking and baking. Check out her <a href="http://lorina.pixnet.net/blog" target="_blank">blog</a> (in Chinese)! And this is my homemade tofu!<br />

I started by have the lid completely closed on the rice cooker to get the temperature going. Once the water is boiling, I opened a small gap so that the temperature doesn't get too high.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fried tofu with sweet chili sauce! That's the way we like to eat our tofu!</div>
<br />
<br />
Here is the recipe in English (well, good things need to be shared!):<br />
<br />
<u>Ingredients</u><br />
<u><br /></u>
250ml Unsweetened soy bean milk<br />
3 eggs<br />
salt or chicken powder to taste (do not add chicken powder if this is for baby consumption)<br />
As much spring onion, bonito flakes as you like (taste great with seaweed strips as well!)<br />
Small amount of Japanese bonito soy sauce<br />
<br />
<u>Method</u><br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Beat the eggs and add into soy bean milk, mix well.</li>
<li>Sieve the mixture until all the bubbles are gone, add in the seasonings, mix well and pour into the appropriate container. Put into rice cooker and steam until mixture is firm. Done!</li>
<li>Sprinkle on spring onion, bonito flakes, seaweed strips and pour in a small amount of the Japanese bonito soy sauce before eating. It tastes great when it's cool as well.</li>
</ol>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: purple;">Gentle reminder</span></span><br />
To prevent the mixture from having the "bee hive" appearance, temperature control is important.<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>You can put more water in the rice cooker.</li>
<li>Do not allow the container with the mixture to touch the base of the rice cooker, you can put an inverted bowl at the base and put the mixture on top of it.</li>
<li>Do not close the lid of the rice cooker completely and leave a small gap.</li>
</ol>

It is simple to make and a popular dish for dinner in our household.<br />
<br />
I know most people make fried rice from left over rice, but our family is big (there's 6 of us!), so very seldom do we get left over.. So I usually cook the rice about 2 to 3 hours before I make dinner. Once the rice is cooked, I fluff it up by stirring it around with a pair of chopsticks and turn off the rice cooker. Also I added in 2 cubes of chicken bouillon, so there will more flavor to the rice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ6KugWCvN-SJ8lfFdkIjaygE-a-RukUmLuxEnFb3gnjA5BUih2cC7I9BlAkWEu8e0i6fSLkz6FIGulIz6LR_PluBIMepvVm1mOghpXnIxI2-Ik2ET3VzgZZAZU3TgpF8-hwYaDcDZ2lc/s1600/IMG_2769.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ6KugWCvN-SJ8lfFdkIjaygE-a-RukUmLuxEnFb3gnjA5BUih2cC7I9BlAkWEu8e0i6fSLkz6FIGulIz6LR_PluBIMepvVm1mOghpXnIxI2-Ik2ET3VzgZZAZU3TgpF8-hwYaDcDZ2lc/s400/IMG_2769.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Then I'd open up the fridge and cabinet to see what we have to <strike>throw</strike> add into the fried rice. Sausage, eggs and sweet corn is quite standard in our family.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeull4FJF5JYAn-rLxq4HZ5Ft7iyA89S8zkI6mJGDRWmP7ZopFlo9-F1l-7o1_DY5hhrOnnEAtJb8fbsERlinU9nuGHDpUI3w-huWGjLj0YWQHrQ8DZE-_UV2KhLEyIorfJ34nzqujN5U/s1600/IMG_2770.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeull4FJF5JYAn-rLxq4HZ5Ft7iyA89S8zkI6mJGDRWmP7ZopFlo9-F1l-7o1_DY5hhrOnnEAtJb8fbsERlinU9nuGHDpUI3w-huWGjLj0YWQHrQ8DZE-_UV2KhLEyIorfJ34nzqujN5U/s400/IMG_2770.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I would also add in finely chopped sweet radish and garlic, which I usually throw into the blender to do the job for me. I'd put about 5 to 6 cloves of garlic coz we love the smell of fried garlic! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_HTsE4F-1tcW4ZZjKCY2lA22BmFx2MY8Xry4mjwXWmpsGidMZVTzr8xQRkVQ1Oy5CnKCaj16MtedcwOXc_VN35PNl8ylA5ZHNpmcZ8fs7DTHA9FMi2foErShGhVJHUFMiF9zOSz7-RBQ/s1600/IMG_2771.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_HTsE4F-1tcW4ZZjKCY2lA22BmFx2MY8Xry4mjwXWmpsGidMZVTzr8xQRkVQ1Oy5CnKCaj16MtedcwOXc_VN35PNl8ylA5ZHNpmcZ8fs7DTHA9FMi2foErShGhVJHUFMiF9zOSz7-RBQ/s400/IMG_2771.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the radish I got from the Thai store. It says "Salted Radish"....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but buy the one that has "Sweet" on it. The other one was so salty we felt like raisins after I mix it in eggs to do fried eggs....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fry the sausages first, then take them out and throw in the radish and garlic mixture. Fry till it's fragrant and add in the rice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb3NA5pX8A1AoubGd-vEGHTjyjlK-xF_kqtv6GWzYPLd3FcbM8Lo6HJuHAusI3i6uOOnrACRs3_7d0LD05kMqqeJbwg-HLgU2_MWRLNrhkqkW8JkUct4LY19mlmapuHBrXSdEpWLp0xSQ/s1600/Blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb3NA5pX8A1AoubGd-vEGHTjyjlK-xF_kqtv6GWzYPLd3FcbM8Lo6HJuHAusI3i6uOOnrACRs3_7d0LD05kMqqeJbwg-HLgU2_MWRLNrhkqkW8JkUct4LY19mlmapuHBrXSdEpWLp0xSQ/s400/Blog.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once the rice and the radish and garlic mixture is properly mixed, I'd push the rice aside and crack in the eggs. Then I'll stir them around until they are very scrambled. After that, I'll bring the rice and eggs together so they can mix around and be good friends.... (ok, now I'm talking strangely...)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie_60CjEKD_qMG1GhHYc7e9Pi_l640QowZStAe0uSoHQTmh0qa422hOw4foD6s9rYc6UBKK-uINXYw4Iu5oI1fGzMrN8jqMnz1fwYPCVwBfGK3QM0dJpTDD-OljRBxuC8UyiNQKkth2n4/s1600/Blog-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie_60CjEKD_qMG1GhHYc7e9Pi_l640QowZStAe0uSoHQTmh0qa422hOw4foD6s9rYc6UBKK-uINXYw4Iu5oI1fGzMrN8jqMnz1fwYPCVwBfGK3QM0dJpTDD-OljRBxuC8UyiNQKkth2n4/s400/Blog-001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
However, if your pan is too small. You can scramble the eggs separately and add them in later, the reason why I'm doing it this way, is just because I'm too lazy... >.<"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'll then take out a small portion of the sausage and set it aside...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIUymcf-AwS440gzLCLraGeXNEhgcIZ18j1ALWGKuwvP27Q3wsIz_unBjA5eSz3nmG5qQmDWo-H-cT7BWCI6MLwUJd9fKLHvRQSg-PE1cerhJsQb4_natqKJghQNUffqf3QhbD6HzRO6Q/s1600/IMG_2783.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIUymcf-AwS440gzLCLraGeXNEhgcIZ18j1ALWGKuwvP27Q3wsIz_unBjA5eSz3nmG5qQmDWo-H-cT7BWCI6MLwUJd9fKLHvRQSg-PE1cerhJsQb4_natqKJghQNUffqf3QhbD6HzRO6Q/s400/IMG_2783.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That is, if you have this little face staring at you when you're making food.... otherwise you can skip this totally unnecessary step.... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Dig in!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u>Fried rice (For 6 persons)</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Ingredients:</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4 cups of rice</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 chicken bouillon</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
100g sweeten radish</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5 cloves of garlic</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5 sausages - diced</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4 eggs</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 small can of sweet corn (or any other vegetable of your choice - diced)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 tbsp of oil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dash of white pepper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Method:</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do this step about 2 hours before you start frying the rice. Cook the rice like you normally would in the rice cooker and add in the chicken bouillon. Once the water starts heating up, use a spoon to dissolve the bouillon thoroughly and blend well. Let the rice continue cooking till it's done. Then use a pair of chopsticks to fluff up the rice and turn off the cooker. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finely chop the radish and garlic and set aside. Add in 1 tbsp of oil and stir fry the sausage until they're done. Remove them from the pan. Add in 1 tbsp of oil into the pan and fry the radish and garlic mixture till fragrant. Add in the rice and stir well. Add in eggs, sausage and sweet corn. Stir everything well together and turn off heat.</div>

No, you aren't linked to a wrong blog. Some of my friends asked if I can share some of the recipes with them and after pondering for a loooooong time, I decided to do it here on my blog. However, I am NOT a professional, so everything I post here is based on others' recipes or my own trial and error, so pardon me if I made any errors or stupid mistakes!<br />
<br />
There is a Thai store here where I'm living which I really like to go. It's like hunting for treasures everytime! And this time I found this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg__YxUnWTH0bPATa3gx8R-hWpZiud-54stMuVMH4OsoC7YNk_zqDS31fZp3KHo2cHgimVS_ZAb-NK5H_iJ3b1HCuzM5my4GzATQj483s7HcW5RabQmaSfpreGir2da65MU39w0duNRSjA/s1600/IMG_2749.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg__YxUnWTH0bPATa3gx8R-hWpZiud-54stMuVMH4OsoC7YNk_zqDS31fZp3KHo2cHgimVS_ZAb-NK5H_iJ3b1HCuzM5my4GzATQj483s7HcW5RabQmaSfpreGir2da65MU39w0duNRSjA/s1600/IMG_2749.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have tried to make my own red bean paste but it was too troublesome and the end result was not satisfactory. So when I saw this, I grabbed it!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja-8Dv06s2LxDlyRce9H3qYsbiFnJQ4ZaDB9hjFMTeygB_QBS-JWLu_NGcaqfgY6Oqg1aWaGK0KXOemWyxiuAvMKZztmz7M5NXgmoI6kznnyzUTu_6qUY9HSRryJiZuskLDMduqEvgxoc/s1600/IMG_2751.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja-8Dv06s2LxDlyRce9H3qYsbiFnJQ4ZaDB9hjFMTeygB_QBS-JWLu_NGcaqfgY6Oqg1aWaGK0KXOemWyxiuAvMKZztmz7M5NXgmoI6kznnyzUTu_6qUY9HSRryJiZuskLDMduqEvgxoc/s1600/IMG_2751.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I walked briskly over to the flour section and got these!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally I can try a recipe which I have bookmarked a long time ago but lack the ingredient (mostly courage) to make - red bean buns!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This recipe is from the talented Lydia from <a href="http://www.mykitch3n.blogspot.se/2011/06/steamed-red-bean-bun-my-animal-friends.html" target="_blank">My Kitchen</a> (with my own adaptation).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u><b>Ingredients (makes 14 buns)</b></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7g instant dry yeast</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
170ml lukewarm water (make sure it's not too hot 'cos it'll kill the yeast)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
½ tsp lemon juice</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
280 low-protein flour</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
100 wheat starch</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
70g icing sugar (I reduced the sugar a little)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
30g vegetable oil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
10g baking powder</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u><b>Filling:</b></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
35g red bean paste, divided and shaped into 14 balls (I think I'll make them bigger next time, around 40g per ball)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<u><b>Methods:</b></u><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Sift together flours and icing sugar in a large mixing bowl and make a well in the middle.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Mix lukewarm water, lemon juice and yeast well. Pour the mixture into the well. Gently stir the water to bring together the flour mixture.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. Add in oil and knead till a soft dough is formed. It should be smooth on the surface.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpPE9rGdcoZylyq1HR952jnSxwSsop50jMIJjqLLz6BjkLuYhw4A1RkoZE8pdbzYWXJSAVUvMXBtau8_vKIyom0ZmvOhHyFtKwd7l_j8IiWJguzvr038rY2GWe27hIPAasfZm2KKn0iqY/s1600/IMG_2757.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpPE9rGdcoZylyq1HR952jnSxwSsop50jMIJjqLLz6BjkLuYhw4A1RkoZE8pdbzYWXJSAVUvMXBtau8_vKIyom0ZmvOhHyFtKwd7l_j8IiWJguzvr038rY2GWe27hIPAasfZm2KKn0iqY/s1600/IMG_2757.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for 30 mins or until it is double in size. I had to turn my oven on and let it proof inside because it's too cold now - it's winter! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrMiMzjUolF4Yn_4Jj-eMSZwXdClwL0LnlgfuJEl73BPBUJTBotfRTuUFcx-MXCplFCmbyERQqwxt_CkCCIKp_rRpRADU1_4DADKpQPMdcz39XOfv8Y9uiVr6DLHBJimbpfwtxDUqYREc/s1600/IMG_2758.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrMiMzjUolF4Yn_4Jj-eMSZwXdClwL0LnlgfuJEl73BPBUJTBotfRTuUFcx-MXCplFCmbyERQqwxt_CkCCIKp_rRpRADU1_4DADKpQPMdcz39XOfv8Y9uiVr6DLHBJimbpfwtxDUqYREc/s1600/IMG_2758.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Dissolve baking powder in cold water, sprinkle over dough and knead until well combined. Make sure you dissolve the baking powder thoroughly, otherwise you'll get yellow spots on your buns. Divide dough into 14 equal portions. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
6. To make bun, flatten the dough with a rolling pin to make a circle. The place the filling in the middle, wrap and pinch the dough to seal it. Cut out parchment paper into squares and place the bun on them. (I ran out of parchment paper, so I just put them in cupcake paper.) You can choose to have the sealed side facing up or down. My bun wrapping skill sucks, so I place most of them facing down and they still look ugly... =.="</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqUpi0B4UwBJAu1OHzwx7SYu687UCr0asg9y9p24xllJbNyQrrZVQihgs-y_75cjoByHWBRBfFdSs1gf11CXUeH9y-4nighWxvwTl4agSFyv6y3l-WgCHFSpMA0GeTU4GS-HhLuxeQr2Y/s1600/IMG_2759.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqUpi0B4UwBJAu1OHzwx7SYu687UCr0asg9y9p24xllJbNyQrrZVQihgs-y_75cjoByHWBRBfFdSs1gf11CXUeH9y-4nighWxvwTl4agSFyv6y3l-WgCHFSpMA0GeTU4GS-HhLuxeQr2Y/s1600/IMG_2759.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
7. Arrange buns into a steamer, leave some gaps between the buns. Spray water mist over buns and steam in a preheated steamer on high heat for 10 mins. After wrapping all my buns, I realised that I don't own a </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
steamer! (How did that happen?!) So I steam them in my tiny 1 liter rice cooker, 4 buns at a time.... =.=" </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikApktBHWh2FC_75qh_gABTE78sm5oS_dulHavKdrGuz2jjr8dbw-k0WF0A7zhS68ZhTbG50psfMU4ePGWX5_Qxd6FOMbdcHTi-zZNO2tlUlTRQ4RDom0c_VF0yC3N5LOG8sV5xpzUbdY/s1600/IMG_2760.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikApktBHWh2FC_75qh_gABTE78sm5oS_dulHavKdrGuz2jjr8dbw-k0WF0A7zhS68ZhTbG50psfMU4ePGWX5_Qxd6FOMbdcHTi-zZNO2tlUlTRQ4RDom0c_VF0yC3N5LOG8sV5xpzUbdY/s1600/IMG_2760.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Remove buns from steamer and cool them on a rack to prevent soggy bottom.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
8. Then make yourself some of your favorite tea/coffee and enjoy! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL76fcWrm0vLH5ORb_Qp_vcxeuyX3HsnuGn-qLdJqwOi_tWtLTrROx6JUzJLes-4Xx4jCVXnvo-xuLm3jelcEdCZH4OYjuDw_ocPk2FYOIFYh5gpOBr4hqtj0FZDZs9QXO9-w3GgYjyyg/s1600/IMG_2766.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL76fcWrm0vLH5ORb_Qp_vcxeuyX3HsnuGn-qLdJqwOi_tWtLTrROx6JUzJLes-4Xx4jCVXnvo-xuLm3jelcEdCZH4OYjuDw_ocPk2FYOIFYh5gpOBr4hqtj0FZDZs9QXO9-w3GgYjyyg/s1600/IMG_2766.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ok, I need to improve my bun wrapping skill... the red bean paste shouldn't look like a mustache .. but it tastes almost like the ones I get back home!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

They kids wear jeans everyday to school, so it is no wonder that their jeans get worn out within months! Hence, I always have jeans with holes stored somewhere, until I find other ways to use them. <br />
<br />
We got a puppy this summer. She has brought a lot of joy (and frustration!!) to our lives and the older kids have gotten more exercise because it is their duty to walk her. And I'm starting to find poop bags in the washing machine because the kids carry them in their pockets. Finally! A way to recycle my old jeans!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the result!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The tutorial can be found here<a href="http://lovestitches.blogspot.se/2012/03/tutorial-crochet-scrunchie.html" target="_blank"> http://lovestitches.blogspot.se/2012/03/tutorial-crochet-scrunchie.html</a> for those who are interested to give it a try.<br />
<br />
This is my version with added beads. And the best part is that it can be done within an hour! (or less if you're a fast crocheter and you do not have dirty toddler to chase around and clean...)<br />
<br />

<br />Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-15868490809230782572012-08-20T09:49:00.000+02:002012-08-20T09:50:58.107+02:00Winding a Center-Pull Ball of Yarn by Hand!I'm sure for those of you who knit or crochet, you must have experienced this frustration before. After spending days on a project, you realized that you need to take it apart and re-do it, or you have lumps of left over yarns from previous projects and they're just all tangled up and lumpy together with the rest of their left over friends....<br />
<br />
You know what? I found the great solution to these! Thanks to the kind people at <a href="http://blog.lionbrand.com/" target="_blank">Lion Brand</a>, organizing yarns is no longer a headache! (sorry this sounds so "commercial"! : p) Not only that, now you can wind your own center-pull yarn ball every time you get your new yarn, the ball will not roll or tumble around so much coz it's pulled from the center!<br />
<br />
Go on now! Click on the link and learn this new trick!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://blog.lionbrand.com/2012/07/13/keep-yarn-organized-learn-how-to-wind-a-center-pull-ball-by-hand/">http://blog.lionbrand.com/2012/07/13/keep-yarn-organized-learn-how-to-wind-a-center-pull-ball-by-hand/</a>
<br />
<br />
After winding my first one, I realised that this could be made easier with a slight twist or two.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyXKPRi8Pyi1kPHBrWyzl-koyDQjbrC-gZOIYVTjPz6BIU9M_3pak5YGyMaR3pvmb9BgcMQ7dMrT5T41_1_2dPr-iqWq89tWLpy16_RzdN59nvp6U7kSbcZ-0WTT-SUl7jyMJWzRMRF0w/s1600/SDC10103.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyXKPRi8Pyi1kPHBrWyzl-koyDQjbrC-gZOIYVTjPz6BIU9M_3pak5YGyMaR3pvmb9BgcMQ7dMrT5T41_1_2dPr-iqWq89tWLpy16_RzdN59nvp6U7kSbcZ-0WTT-SUl7jyMJWzRMRF0w/s400/SDC10103.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Make a slip knot and hook it onto a fairly good size crochet needle. (I use a 4mm one.)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2L_zts-IkYasgURzIs6tG4sbqAAzB1FyQkd7MwNrk_XKa5Y677IxbMdPyPkYpq3FLpYFFDnSqAUBEWAtJPNfm0YTFLAvML6j9Lzj_5TyD4NQ9-lkut56yuLIWve0j0cndM9jeq7d1Y7s/s1600/SDC10104.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2L_zts-IkYasgURzIs6tG4sbqAAzB1FyQkd7MwNrk_XKa5Y677IxbMdPyPkYpq3FLpYFFDnSqAUBEWAtJPNfm0YTFLAvML6j9Lzj_5TyD4NQ9-lkut56yuLIWve0j0cndM9jeq7d1Y7s/s400/SDC10104.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I held the crochet needle together with another good size knitting needle (I use a 5mm.)...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAb5p2BHHcPc7DPvxs0noq1KD3GbUK4H-WMlD8hMxgkKS8m_tbF_6jSPp9xyxLmntDpB7WbkQHWvsd7WijGY2D5K5u_RVQExvU6RXwuyA6kE9j_w8qhwgdhHP3YSOVN3CS1jCDd7oLcUk/s1600/SDC10105.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAb5p2BHHcPc7DPvxs0noq1KD3GbUK4H-WMlD8hMxgkKS8m_tbF_6jSPp9xyxLmntDpB7WbkQHWvsd7WijGY2D5K5u_RVQExvU6RXwuyA6kE9j_w8qhwgdhHP3YSOVN3CS1jCDd7oLcUk/s400/SDC10105.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then I wrap the yarn around both needles.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwZgQvZQRLSXYV43jW0k9A4Kx9ouOjCK6IGdk_iNqZnKpEGrOqPn8POFbDGZF8OJ41cpyA-t7Up2tUuyUE1TSMtTVsBxaLDTdo4O24LysaOsZr0oaRNWWRxiQ8mMsXm1gzM2cZAyb5t9I/s1600/SDC10106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwZgQvZQRLSXYV43jW0k9A4Kx9ouOjCK6IGdk_iNqZnKpEGrOqPn8POFbDGZF8OJ41cpyA-t7Up2tUuyUE1TSMtTVsBxaLDTdo4O24LysaOsZr0oaRNWWRxiQ8mMsXm1gzM2cZAyb5t9I/s400/SDC10106.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Making criss cross with the yarn around both needles now and then....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEily7XXUlhYxeNWgU40Abf8X7nZm4_jaGtUz5iVVIRY0KUkRh36O1NDi12Os3f-lu2m3ZaJq7yqDsQC6N4Mk9rRMEVu0Yv3Kiz96fBog-J-Y8C0JSx7RqlayOTURzzPyh4zGGinQfzDN3w/s1600/SDC10108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEily7XXUlhYxeNWgU40Abf8X7nZm4_jaGtUz5iVVIRY0KUkRh36O1NDi12Os3f-lu2m3ZaJq7yqDsQC6N4Mk9rRMEVu0Yv3Kiz96fBog-J-Y8C0JSx7RqlayOTURzzPyh4zGGinQfzDN3w/s400/SDC10108.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Imagine you're wrapping the yarn around a ball...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Keep wrapping your yarn, put on sometime good on tv or listen to the radio... However, doing this and trying to chase your 2 year-old to stuff dinner down his throat is not such a good idea... =.="</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once your yarn is almost done, tuck the remaining tail (the one which you have been using to wrap around) secure under a few rounds of yarn. Then I pull out the knitting needle first. Then I pull out the crochet needle with the slip knot carefully, making sure that I don't get other yarns on my way out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvHOp1JV44ZzxfTUYOkLs8OmW_fgQ5Ko8salDeVyu5z0yVA2qYP78rJUlxnFRAgDW_JHe35yCrD5IH5iMp2CR57TlqC5Ea73pszeeVgi-6xEBbEaP8xARSRxUAVyrfvREosbfkebRriV4/s1600/SDC10109.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvHOp1JV44ZzxfTUYOkLs8OmW_fgQ5Ko8salDeVyu5z0yVA2qYP78rJUlxnFRAgDW_JHe35yCrD5IH5iMp2CR57TlqC5Ea73pszeeVgi-6xEBbEaP8xARSRxUAVyrfvREosbfkebRriV4/s320/SDC10109.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">And I don't pull the yarn (with the slip knot) all the way out, I left the beginning end still tuck inside the ball, so when I need to use it I just need to pull it out.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Alternatively, you can cut a piece of straw so it fits your crochet needle, like this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzb2pcXz0AYSKLZRTz5sgx-_WA1hIbKoQiCUQp37A214GRXhDcwtAxy7_QemxVe-S0FcZICgjw1DsAL-0iG-I4rIHy9nW436BC5sHVlswljxV3jW98Xr6ybp4AKgkJJoh5Mt_KaEbkZkU/s1600/SDC10102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzb2pcXz0AYSKLZRTz5sgx-_WA1hIbKoQiCUQp37A214GRXhDcwtAxy7_QemxVe-S0FcZICgjw1DsAL-0iG-I4rIHy9nW436BC5sHVlswljxV3jW98Xr6ybp4AKgkJJoh5Mt_KaEbkZkU/s320/SDC10102.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you use the straw then there is no need to use the knitting needle, you can start wrapping away with the crochet needle in the straw and pulling the slip knot over will be a breeze later!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There you have it! Easy isn't it? Now bring out all your left over yarns and happy wrapping!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Being a <strike>poor</strike> thrifty housewife, I can't afford the latest or coolest technical gadgets which hubby is interested in, so I'd have to kill some brain cells to come up with something that is not so expensive and creative. Being a <a href="http://pinterest.com/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>-addict, I've seen many creative ideas and this is what I made!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim6KgivWoUV2NrE7hMxj1NVm7y9WMvQhDhFC4ao81-W_t6XfBc6T_w670fvwGkEzyZkXTTCCGyQ0s9_HZloCYbPg55E9Av7hJi8RnAAMRDLsYaBExw5k9Wt5IcASau7OW35nbvgKm1vIE/s1600/IMG_2509.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim6KgivWoUV2NrE7hMxj1NVm7y9WMvQhDhFC4ao81-W_t6XfBc6T_w670fvwGkEzyZkXTTCCGyQ0s9_HZloCYbPg55E9Av7hJi8RnAAMRDLsYaBExw5k9Wt5IcASau7OW35nbvgKm1vIE/s640/IMG_2509.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut out the map of Singapore and pin the place where we first met with a glittery heart. I wanted to print it out on black paper with gold font but I guess my color cartridge in the printer was in holiday mood and wasn't working like it should, so I had to settle for the second best. It turned out pretty alright anyway!</div>Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-59178590905404063762012-06-03T15:41:00.002+02:002012-06-03T15:41:55.978+02:00My First Sweater!I have been wanting to knit a sweater for a long time now but was intimidated by the "complexity" of the patterns and measurements (yeah, you probably know by now that I really suck big time in anything that has to do with calculations...). After some consideration, I finally pluck up courage to attempt to knit my first sweater - a Pippi Långström (Pippi Longstocking) inspired sweater for my prince number 3. The pattern was adapted from <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/raitaritarin-raita-asu--striped-outfit-for-a-stripeknight" target="_blank">here</a> (you'll need a Ravelry account to log in), except that I up-sized it to fit my 4-year old.<br />
<br />
And I think it turned out quite alright! The yarn I used was Fuga and it felt kinda prickly when I was knitting, but after washed and blocked, it is no longer prickly and surprisingly kinda soft.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyxZr6Ueybw7zXnQqCU3eeJDoQYxWN0pJNQAVIuPUuQLuegP9bu2xINZi41UIczYffuwvKzkSe4i4xHCbomDphxEJo9XTlJmGt_eLltkmef7soQW1Gw05JnQ36Lv4oFXasqkk2-mg7dqw/s1600/IMG_0830.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyxZr6Ueybw7zXnQqCU3eeJDoQYxWN0pJNQAVIuPUuQLuegP9bu2xINZi41UIczYffuwvKzkSe4i4xHCbomDphxEJo9XTlJmGt_eLltkmef7soQW1Gw05JnQ36Lv4oFXasqkk2-mg7dqw/s400/IMG_0830.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I can't wait to try more sweaters with different details!Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-7738591332364191682012-04-22T22:01:00.000+02:002012-04-22T22:01:03.710+02:00Another Shawl?!Yup! Knitted another <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/andreas-shawl" target="_blank">shawl </a> from one of my favorite designer, Kirsten Kapur. It has a little lace knitting, which makes an otherwise simple knit, not so boring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9dgplM5-tDcL0pbiNkMs4PGYUcdmd2bY6aaXSgv8RPmh_Yp8sUtR14V_S5bZBaP6MiuBuUOK-kIMUgYez58mbTx0NV10k47bJ19rdi6WTuBJ0AcCrzTFcukKlyNNQXz9Ayhb7hP7m3L8/s1600/SDC10010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9dgplM5-tDcL0pbiNkMs4PGYUcdmd2bY6aaXSgv8RPmh_Yp8sUtR14V_S5bZBaP6MiuBuUOK-kIMUgYez58mbTx0NV10k47bJ19rdi6WTuBJ0AcCrzTFcukKlyNNQXz9Ayhb7hP7m3L8/s320/SDC10010.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Sorry for the unblocked finished project, so lazy to do blocking!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-k89TE2eh3Eq18dxVJjiphaMj4LVMj0OKaVvwQ7zYjUKqncjG2HIYpX1LQBEkpIXyfRc7D-AUSVvDAi2KTL3Jx0rcrdvAsqrrzrtS7_nS-6L_lb4uPeVE3kfRXuUA59XIu5gYJuTunrs/s1600/SDC10011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-k89TE2eh3Eq18dxVJjiphaMj4LVMj0OKaVvwQ7zYjUKqncjG2HIYpX1LQBEkpIXyfRc7D-AUSVvDAi2KTL3Jx0rcrdvAsqrrzrtS7_nS-6L_lb4uPeVE3kfRXuUA59XIu5gYJuTunrs/s320/SDC10011.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Another picture to show you the picot edging.<br />
<br />
However, even though I knitted size M, it is only enough to go round my neck once and tie a simple knot, or fasten it with a brooch - more like a shawlette, guess my gauge is a little off... will knit this again someday and maybe increase the stitches to have it longer.Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-66429614607839548812012-03-29T22:18:00.000+02:002012-03-29T22:18:24.686+02:00BeaniesFinally I got around to posting the completed beanie I made for hubby! It took me so long to do this, winter has actually turned into spring! (However, spring time in Sweden is a very confusing period... at least I think so. Warm and sunny this week, minus zero and snowing next week....)<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here it is!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7ndcur9CTroOg5j43OlWDeXHdeWAu7tRhrtWd9V70lTqwZ1bk9o6UBr19CffzL0_CbSwuSPWyiJNLP1qt6BB8ov6pMeOX_Bs63hE1VE52VaXbdsI0SnavrzCfqpM1NTRrtkp91aSbip8/s1600/SDC10012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7ndcur9CTroOg5j43OlWDeXHdeWAu7tRhrtWd9V70lTqwZ1bk9o6UBr19CffzL0_CbSwuSPWyiJNLP1qt6BB8ov6pMeOX_Bs63hE1VE52VaXbdsI0SnavrzCfqpM1NTRrtkp91aSbip8/s320/SDC10012.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And with the left over yarn, I knitted a beanie for our 4-year old, who requested specially for "owls".</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEw7ayPhqNGS4OaUOJvcTdcrFnhx80Y426OXZ0jeasmrxrfI7DRgGrZMX7ccj_4DWUw9ICMBCKB9b5MbsjRkSkxcsfAk1jSaxXEmJETE0SLRbpeMwMI02PXY9dZFijeIgKoIsgiZLNNIQ/s1600/SDC10006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEw7ayPhqNGS4OaUOJvcTdcrFnhx80Y426OXZ0jeasmrxrfI7DRgGrZMX7ccj_4DWUw9ICMBCKB9b5MbsjRkSkxcsfAk1jSaxXEmJETE0SLRbpeMwMI02PXY9dZFijeIgKoIsgiZLNNIQ/s320/SDC10006.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And since these 2 beanies are double knitted, they are both wearable on both sides.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVvXzX5YguArvcxu3DLXniJ8O-ZBCG4ByJEz2GBTN5ssVN2Dy-CWDhv152nnFsB6j_NM56r9pYnf3W9pc1M3pfeIsycPz4IWFFI-R7sCj5qciH7bofJOAeSnGc5OsbAj9pmbp1EKZv7NE/s1600/SDC10005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVvXzX5YguArvcxu3DLXniJ8O-ZBCG4ByJEz2GBTN5ssVN2Dy-CWDhv152nnFsB6j_NM56r9pYnf3W9pc1M3pfeIsycPz4IWFFI-R7sCj5qciH7bofJOAeSnGc5OsbAj9pmbp1EKZv7NE/s320/SDC10005.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

Have you been crafting lately? ^.^</div>Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-17786859410178719492012-02-09T14:00:00.001+01:002012-02-09T14:00:36.970+01:00My Own Design!Hubby has been bugging me about knitting him something because all I knit are for my kids. So I came up with a simple design to knit a hat for him...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5l2Gcqyx9ouKTgtTtbCB-YPSKFDvdfLs-k8Cl2yI9bVCOpXC6rKCFxt7fBFu7qrDEbuo23MHfR8vHnUVNSdAJJwMulZSfzfGZx_b6mqkMy7nk8fEW2fMkbBEld9DxMJXWzX1JGkA7SnE/s1600/SDC11019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5l2Gcqyx9ouKTgtTtbCB-YPSKFDvdfLs-k8Cl2yI9bVCOpXC6rKCFxt7fBFu7qrDEbuo23MHfR8vHnUVNSdAJJwMulZSfzfGZx_b6mqkMy7nk8fEW2fMkbBEld9DxMJXWzX1JGkA7SnE/s320/SDC11019.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It's still a WIP, will post the finished project once I'm done. Hopefully soon!Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-20725642043578853382012-01-22T23:38:00.002+01:002012-02-09T13:59:47.382+01:00My Second Cladonia Shawl!This shawl is so easy to knit, it's like my de-stress knitting project! I started this while waiting for the new yarns for the Gryffindor-inspired mittens to arrive (so was annoyed to find out that the yarns weren't enough to finish the project!). This one is for my princess and she specifically asked for purple, so I used baby pink, lavender and purple for the edging.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnwh0sjQAL7mf5BpQf18oKnRFy6-tFLle9SeEqs3XpJ2CvxF4a7slr-gWoY6Itj7bHXUSiCwt_7J_CuS6AFmNbB94ae8N-twgPvvaBCX5UOrx6sh1bcqw4eFFVdNwFux1qZOr50w-TK2o/s1600/SDC10913.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnwh0sjQAL7mf5BpQf18oKnRFy6-tFLle9SeEqs3XpJ2CvxF4a7slr-gWoY6Itj7bHXUSiCwt_7J_CuS6AFmNbB94ae8N-twgPvvaBCX5UOrx6sh1bcqw4eFFVdNwFux1qZOr50w-TK2o/s320/SDC10913.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Pardon me for the bad lighting (It's winter now, so daylight is like gold! It was so short, it passed after I was done with the laundry.....) and the quality of the photo (well, I can't afford a new camera with sophisticated functions...). Right, I admit, I'm not a photographer! The purple looks like blue! Arggghhh....! But trust me, the shawl looks pretty! It really does!Sylviahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13589627504360780484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9000655600809547671.post-72590137910976194842012-01-22T23:19:00.003+01:002012-01-29T22:14:44.554+01:00Gryffindor-inspired MittensHere they are! A pair of Gryffindor-inspired mittens for the eldest prince, who is a real Harry Potter addict.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiLxWwB6D0UC9SEd7tbqxDa6x7JCjWjbbUz5lx6MKT4Y3okKorrtka5FYO5RP1IUzB4z6OKg0rxwdLVe71OBXq1iVLErWlFh4ZELXNp-MU19h3tRpywN4gimt03triMqhmfXF-TTgyUyk/s1600/SDC10917.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiLxWwB6D0UC9SEd7tbqxDa6x7JCjWjbbUz5lx6MKT4Y3okKorrtka5FYO5RP1IUzB4z6OKg0rxwdLVe71OBXq1iVLErWlFh4ZELXNp-MU19h3tRpywN4gimt03triMqhmfXF-TTgyUyk/s320/SDC10917.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It is, again a double-knitted project because of the increased warmth factor. And if he ever gets sick of this side, he can just flip them over to show the opposite side!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJKo82yZ1HwAY-Tjz2jEYVthd3xL1SbWlIfRaIM7RIYnd1PZsBN1S26aZMv2T2_8wNPWUia316kCtCIS2eiovaWJk1KvfHGMCgFPgY9h50bX9rz05uT54-YOj394gh4K781U1z_N7VFfA/s1600/SDC10919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJKo82yZ1HwAY-Tjz2jEYVthd3xL1SbWlIfRaIM7RIYnd1PZsBN1S26aZMv2T2_8wNPWUia316kCtCIS2eiovaWJk1KvfHGMCgFPgY9h50bX9rz05uT54-YOj394gh4K781U1z_N7VFfA/s320/SDC10919.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
(Ok, if you spot the mistake I made on the opposite side, please just keep it to yourself yeah? : p)

I found a great pattern on<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/blue-totoro-mittens" target="_blank"> Ravelry</a> (you need to set up a login account to access this pattern but if you're a knitter or crocheter, you really should sign up coz there are so many interesting patterns available and even forum if you need to know more about a certain topic/technique, what a great place!)<br />
<br />
My first attempt was not so good. It might look pretty alright from outside....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
.... from the front....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwJkO24p75HRSj-ibRO1iprQORFUsuj7TQtQNBM3_J1rBGMFJscGc4hNQYxxfWpy40N6X5Kz3UpaNyR51D-j5BhInfCres7qngLNjtRD4nwcwO3WEjorYgsohhKhWGxL3X2UnoYaxW_2k/s1600/image_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwJkO24p75HRSj-ibRO1iprQORFUsuj7TQtQNBM3_J1rBGMFJscGc4hNQYxxfWpy40N6X5Kz3UpaNyR51D-j5BhInfCres7qngLNjtRD4nwcwO3WEjorYgsohhKhWGxL3X2UnoYaxW_2k/s320/image_3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
..... and the back....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBDqr72eFTHG28GF4mxNTdcW4b61N3yyiQXvBA8y20147oYsuUOiTs-0ZO4bEYoZ_wz_O4UGtqw7NerpsTRfTboT2V9X4G1mBCsgBnmPDA1-ORFUwlHR7soFrNpWmSwpAdxee1geZNUm0/s1600/image_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBDqr72eFTHG28GF4mxNTdcW4b61N3yyiQXvBA8y20147oYsuUOiTs-0ZO4bEYoZ_wz_O4UGtqw7NerpsTRfTboT2V9X4G1mBCsgBnmPDA1-ORFUwlHR7soFrNpWmSwpAdxee1geZNUm0/s320/image_5.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
..... but inside was wrong! It was supposed to be the knitted side on the inside as well but as you can see from here.... it was very "purl-ed".... =.="<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1gx_S8FbC6w2R5BbcETcRRNQ-kzs14PmWA3v00bSw4iI9e8sewmOJXk4U0e23ziju7uRfS-XS5k2raVLN4l9YdJqqpevzG2A0upNjAonRHNL7z4OxTdYzPV4XLmJJxDHLMZTIB37owUA/s1600/image_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1gx_S8FbC6w2R5BbcETcRRNQ-kzs14PmWA3v00bSw4iI9e8sewmOJXk4U0e23ziju7uRfS-XS5k2raVLN4l9YdJqqpevzG2A0upNjAonRHNL7z4OxTdYzPV4XLmJJxDHLMZTIB37owUA/s320/image_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So I learnt from the mistakes made, and mind you, it was quite a lot, I made my first pair of double knitted mittens! And I wasn't the least afraid to flip over one of them to show you that I've done it correctly!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEUFgzpaft7PJT2Lfz1ntM5XQHrJM81kxvCetD7l2MznuaAAkhf0w05JvRx1ipFaZ4F9PJ8yAzMcu5n2ObsbJza7U8Yyk6twSSrTYwdhum4pkOQBTvV-6sr5tI7KgNF-OUi9LqfDuiHHc/s1600/image_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEUFgzpaft7PJT2Lfz1ntM5XQHrJM81kxvCetD7l2MznuaAAkhf0w05JvRx1ipFaZ4F9PJ8yAzMcu5n2ObsbJza7U8Yyk6twSSrTYwdhum4pkOQBTvV-6sr5tI7KgNF-OUi9LqfDuiHHc/s320/image_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok, maybe not totally correct coz the yarns were wrapped wrongly in some areas and the decreases are not done properly and those horribly done kitchener stitch... but after agonizing for 2 weeks, yeah that's how slow I was in knitting these! I think I'm allowed to be proud of myself for a short while!<br />
<br />
I agree that grey was a better color for Totoro but I only had a small amount of it which was just enough to make 1 mitten, so I used green instead which I think looks ok, or maybe it's because I'm so used to it now! <br />
<br />
Double knitting means that you're knitting 2 fabrics at the same time, which makes the mittens thicker. However, these mittens are more suitable for autumn in Sweden, since we all know how tough winter can gets. The happy 4-year old wore these mittens and accompanied us to go groceries shopping today and they do keep his little hands warm since winter is late this year. <br />

We had a green Christmas this year which is very weird. Sitting home where it's warm and toasty and the sun shining outside, green grass and birds singing, for a moment I thought it was summer! Has the weather God decided to skip winter and launch straight to summer?!<br />
<br />
Enough ranting about the weather, on to my next project - Fair Isle knitting!!<br />

Well, Barbie has been wearing her tunic for some time now and every time I looked at her I would tell myself,"Man, she really needs to put on something more!"<br />
<br />
Finally I couldn't stand it anymore so I cast on again to knit her something to cover up those legs!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkcsxKvWJPunvJBX76mRKmz3Z5mM-Q7BQ2XdwofzH1t_GGIACsXYZxmf9l7u9M_Npgs0UaK3p0yw7EViPv3dOwfk4hpvlA_dw2aLai26cnEERQeVCZexewEWQ9phkK3HeTPZ_teD6hgK0/s1600/CIMG7425.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkcsxKvWJPunvJBX76mRKmz3Z5mM-Q7BQ2XdwofzH1t_GGIACsXYZxmf9l7u9M_Npgs0UaK3p0yw7EViPv3dOwfk4hpvlA_dw2aLai26cnEERQeVCZexewEWQ9phkK3HeTPZ_teD6hgK0/s320/CIMG7425.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, it does look alright. Except that....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmQasoc0QTXxvLrne0aRjjEaO9nOMO-7K1r1JievhAHCGzogxOHLmMCS7Q5-qG_HW-krfGjWG3XT3SV5oDlTzgLjn9WK2fvzPzuSITVMkd0IiMlyVKNocPNzc5Y7ENHMy8KVG0ZJTybCw/s1600/CIMG7427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmQasoc0QTXxvLrne0aRjjEaO9nOMO-7K1r1JievhAHCGzogxOHLmMCS7Q5-qG_HW-krfGjWG3XT3SV5oDlTzgLjn9WK2fvzPzuSITVMkd0IiMlyVKNocPNzc5Y7ENHMy8KVG0ZJTybCw/s320/CIMG7427.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
her bum is still hanging out in the freezing cold! Arggggghhhh! I tell myself that it doesn't matter since this part doesn't show when her tunic is pulled down. So I left it as it is. But it's like having a small splinter under my skin and I just cannot get it out of my head. I know the "hanging-for-their-dear-life-on-half-the-bum" kinda pants is very popular among teens but they're not allowed in our family! <br />
<br />
So I have no choice but to take them off, and have them back on my knitting needles again.....*sigh*<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7YaAA5X6x7beE3jIz1kSN9xWV_5ljCcUEKl3U0sz41TCsHWgPMQ9DWShuDQek3QGYr5z-mNxb3spsR3XHUtn9WSSxr4umaw7-0Udn5r5MdzAipgvwr1yyjVITiPDYlDt0nT_GAvgqsPQ/s1600/CIMG7428.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7YaAA5X6x7beE3jIz1kSN9xWV_5ljCcUEKl3U0sz41TCsHWgPMQ9DWShuDQek3QGYr5z-mNxb3spsR3XHUtn9WSSxr4umaw7-0Udn5r5MdzAipgvwr1yyjVITiPDYlDt0nT_GAvgqsPQ/s320/CIMG7428.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After a few more rounds of knitting and muttering under my breath,"Who has got a figure like this?" "It's just impossible to make anything fit properly!" "Bet she must suffer from some sort of chronic pain." "Her waist is so small, it's totally disproportional!" "Her figure is just abnormal!" (Yeah, I suppose I was annoyed.... *rolling my eyes*) I ended up with this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGWe1OP2T7BMlpUc-HWAm244cKKTFopcNzbQvwMnJuTKqNRYEysE6zmoHhuE7HILCaB1vXZUW9y2AN0P6JMZ6WJtvFt4f-wcaJvOdcCpW_YkO2cWhm7NfKjYxyLYkRGgjtCY9_OGFVJE8/s1600/CIMG7430.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGWe1OP2T7BMlpUc-HWAm244cKKTFopcNzbQvwMnJuTKqNRYEysE6zmoHhuE7HILCaB1vXZUW9y2AN0P6JMZ6WJtvFt4f-wcaJvOdcCpW_YkO2cWhm7NfKjYxyLYkRGgjtCY9_OGFVJE8/s320/CIMG7430.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok, the waist line doesn't fit her waist but who cares? At least now she's decent!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg81GnXn_rYYHxqUCVzGVO15l-uNZs3CtJ8D4rRYO2vk0y2JX9hLENNM1_0-kwklH-VwDcFE1w7H5fHUlHPx0oypEoD7mGu8W1LmAY-9-KGy7wR2hedY5TOLMNttHSH0A-eSPOkkwSZyxE/s1600/CIMG7432.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg81GnXn_rYYHxqUCVzGVO15l-uNZs3CtJ8D4rRYO2vk0y2JX9hLENNM1_0-kwklH-VwDcFE1w7H5fHUlHPx0oypEoD7mGu8W1LmAY-9-KGy7wR2hedY5TOLMNttHSH0A-eSPOkkwSZyxE/s320/CIMG7432.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
And when I pulled down the tunic.....<br />
<br />
